Update Sea Day 5 middle of the Atlantic. Well everything went off smoothly leaving Miami 5 days ago. We got on the ship by 1: oo pm and had a cheeseburger in my mouth by 1:30. It was kind of funny being on the ship almost twelve hours before we left port, five other ships left the last one Carnival Valor (Carnival Destiny's sister ship and our ship) give a huge salute blast of her horns and Destiny calling back almost like they hugged for the last time. Destiny has been here in Miami since arriving in November 1996 and this would be her first trip home to Italy and her 49 day make over.
All afternoon we had watched as they loaded tons of new things onto the ship and it is scattered all over the ship. The new megatron TV for the pool area is here and many new doors and other equipment crowd the decks. That has not stopped us and 2200 other people from having a goodtime. Back when we were stilled tied to the dock we were poolside and I was dragged onto the dance floor and me and my new friend Erin danced all te while as I remembered to keep my arms below my shoulders after being told some time ago I looked like a dope when I did so. I look like a dope out there anyway so why I care I don't know but you're not going to spell out YMCA if you follow this practice. Unbenounced to Erin and I we were being followed by the camera and have since been aired a dozen times on the shipboard TV everyday Erin and I get a little more popular as people see this repeating program.
We struggled to stay awake but at midnight we were off and running! Day two was spent finding our way around ship and enjoying the shows. This crossing has four comedians on it and a juggler and Magician. So basically we are just doing the cruise ship thing, thinking that the long sea days would be boring surprisingly we find that the days slip by quickly and before we know it we are heading to bed. The Atlantic has been our friend with only 20 foot seas which our ship cuts through effortlessly. Last night Joy was under the weather or tired of me dragging her around for all hours of the night so I headed out without her and had a blast. Drinking far more than I ever do, tequila is not my friend and I found myself the next morning wondering how much of an arse I may have been and instead sitting down to breakfast with seven strangers one of whom said we had danced together last night? I remembered her and also the song but that was about it, I did keep my arms down though.
I find that this update is pretty boring and that maybe I should wait till we arrive in Spain for the next one. We pretty much only eat sleep and drink on ship. Tonight Joy and I will be releasing our bottles into the Atlantic. We have put together a message in two separate bottles with a reward offered if found. Our email, street address and phone numbers included it would be fun if they are ever found. I heard about a couple doing this and the bottles were found 40 years later after the husband had died so I guess I'll never know. Well with that all said I'll report back in 5-7 days after we tour Spain. Thanks for following Keith and Joy
